Paul Pharr

Paul Pharr started ice carving back in 2006. He took one of Mimi Chapin's classes and she told him he would be competing in the junior competition. He carved the same thing he carved in the class, the sydney opera house.
He placed first in abstract and was determined to compete the next year.

Before the next competition he was able to work on a fair sculpture and a kids park sculpture. In the 07 tournament he could only compete the first two days because he was going on a school trip to europe.
His sculpture "The Last Spartan" was Master Chief, the main character in the Halo video games. He didn't quite finish his sculpture but the results were still good.
In 08 he carved a 440 merc snomachine for the kids park which melted shortly after being finished. In the JR. competition he surprised himself and many of the supervisor carvers with his piece "Nature's Great Beast"
The piece was based off of the wolf in 300 but he added the cubs for some slight deconstructionism. The extra effort the other carvers, both junior and supervisor pushed him to put in caused him to creat what he believes to be one of his best works of art, carving or otherwise.
